Recently, we had a client who could not send any invoices or statements through TAS Books. The client was running TAS Books 3 on a 64bit install of Windows 7 Professional.
Below is the message that would appear on screen:
“The current action is not supported by the underlying mail system”
It seems that “The current action is not supported by the underlying mail system” is a MAPI related error that appears in Tas Books when trying to email statements or invoices from Tas Books when using Microsoft Outlook as the default email client.
Unfortunately, the client had no support contract with TAS and couldn’t justify the annual support costs involved as support was never required previously.
Given their setup ( imap email account ), the quickest and most reliable solution was to install Mozilla Thunderbird, import the Outlook configuration into it and use Mozilla Thunderbird as the default SMTP application.
Because the client is using imap – the invoices / statements emailed from TAS books also appear in their Outlook client.
Dirty but effective!
